And so they call me an OTAKU.

Otaku (おたく / オタク) [oh-tah-kooh] - is a Japanese word referring to a person with obsessive interests particularly with Manga, Anime and Video Games.

It was not so long ago since I recognized my interests in Anime and Manga. It was when I was in 6th grade (2003) when I met transferred to another school and met my best friend. She was actually half Japanese (her dad was a Japanese) and she draws anime really good. At that time I have already been watching Anime but never really paid much attention because as what other people especially my former nanny would say, they're just for kids. And being in the 6th grade and a 12 year old isn't a kid anymore that's why I have to be more mature and try not to watch cartoons anymore. They usually use the word "cartoons" referring to 2D people but not for me. I would usually differentiate Anime from Cartoons, not that I dislike cartoons or anything but of course Anime is much more better and more human-like than cartoons. I hope you know what I mean. I used to watch Dragon Ball when I was a kid and I could consider that as my first anime but I'm actually unsure if it was Dragon Ball or Daddy Long Legs but since I'm more interested in Dragon Ball before compared to the girly Daddy Long Legs, I used to watch Dragon Ball more often, it was dubbed in our language (Filipino) gladly I never got tired of watching the dubbed version again and again. (Wha? I'm getting kinda off topic!! Back to my 6th grade best friend!) So I was saying awhile ago that my best friend in 6th grade draws anime really good and she watches a lot of anime too, that time she was so crazy about Fushigi Yugi which may be watched on AXN (before), unluckily we can't get cable connections in our area which made it impossible for us to watch other channels other than the 2 local TV networks. Fushigi Yugi was also aired on one of the local TV networks before but then it was gone before the series finished maybe because of so many kissing scenes that they have to stop it for the young viewers. But it was still aired on other channels so that's how my best friend got to finish the series, every week at school after watching the latest episode she would tell me the summary and somehow it made me feel jealous of her. And then another anime came along and that's where she got really addicted with - Ayashi No Ceres. Still I didn't had the chance of watching it. But when I entered high school and became more familiar with the internet I got an opportunity that I never wasted, there I started researching about animes and stuff. I also bought CDs so that I may be able to watch the animes I likes but unfortunately CDs were so expensive that time so again that was another hindrance. But that was before. As technology rises I began to find more means on watching animes and now as I am currently in college I found myself addicted, obsessed in watching and even find myself in love with characters wished they were real. With so much watching I got discontented and impatient for the next episodes to be released so I researched more about the story of the particular anime and found out that their Manga are still ongoing and are way more advanced so I tried to search for manga reading sites and now I am again hooked in reading manga. I could even spend the whole 24 hours in front of the computer! With that I never get to get out of my room anymore. Or even get hold of my cell phone, I would just spend my whole day in front of the computer in reading manga and watching anime (and of course writing a blog). So that's when other students calls me an Otaku - which for them is weird and for me interesting. So that's when I started calling myself one. :D

As what I have typed in earlier in the meaning of Otaku which is someone who is obsessed with anime, manga and video games - I also play video games but not really that obsessed. Why? It's because I don't have my own console player. I really have been wanting one but because of financial problems we couldn't afford to buy one. So I just play video games on my cousin's house whenever I get the chance to go there or bury myself on online games such as High Street 5, Ran, and others. So maybe I am an Otaku after all. Even if other people hates me for that I still love being one, being weird - being unique. BEING MYSELF. :]
